Following a dispute over Christmas presents, two teenage brothers have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of their 23-year-old sister. The Florida sheriff’s office reported that the sister, who had her 10-month-old son in a carrier, was shot in the chest by her teenage brother. Subsequently, the boy was shot by his older brother, who wielded his gun, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
The tragic incident unfolded amid an argument over the allocation of Christmas presents, as stated by law enforcement. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri informed reporters that the 15-year-old older brother fled the scene and discarded his firearm.
The younger brother, aged 14, sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Law enforcement indicated that he would be taken into custody upon his release. Local prosecutors will review the case to determine whether to charge him as an adult for the killing of his sister, as mentioned by Sheriff Gualtieri. The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Sheriff Gualtieri explained that the mother-of-two suffered internal bleeding and was unable to breathe, but he emphasized that the baby in the carrier was unharmed. The 15-year-old was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
