Tragedy struck in Rukungiri as Justus Muhwezi, the 55-year-old manager of Kings Hotel, lost his life in a tragic hit-and-run incident. Police are currently in pursuit of William Sebikaru, the suspected assailant who fled the scene.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, the incident is believed to be connected to an alleged affair between Muhwezi and Sebikaru’s wife, Nabimanya Patience, who worked as an accountant at the hotel. The rumored infidelity escalated tensions between Muhwezi and Sebikaru, with the latter also targeting Nabimanya Sadres, an employee believed to be facilitating the affair.

Over the weekend, Sebikaru reportedly confronted Sadres near a church, brandishing a panga and threatening her before she managed to escape. The situation escalated further yesterday when, as Muhwezi was commuting to work on a motorcycle, Sebikaru allegedly intentionally rammed his vehicle into the bike from behind, causing critical injuries. Despite swift transportation to Nyakibale Hospital, Muhwezi succumbed to his injuries.

Sebikaru abandoned his vehicle at the scene and fled. A murder case has been registered, and both vehicles involved have been impounded for examination. Police are actively collecting witness statements, and a thorough investigation is underway
