Late Rally Legend Receives Posthumous September Accolade, Widow Accepts Award

The late Ugandan rally legend, who passed away in 2018, was honored with a posthumous accolade for the month of September, acknowledging his exceptional contribution to motorsport. The driver remains the only Ugandan to have won the prestigious Africa Rally Championship (ARC), a historic victory achieved in 1999. His widow, Patience Muhangi, accepted the award at a ceremony held on October 8, 2024, at Lazo Restaurant in Kololo.

The driver’s 1999 ARC triumph continues to be a monumental achievement, representing Uganda on the international rally stage. His feat has yet to be replicated by any other Ugandan driver, a testament to his skill, determination, and passion for the sport. This recognition, though posthumous, serves as a reminder of his lasting legacy in Uganda’s rallying history, where he remains an inspiration to current and future generations of rally drivers.
