A member of parliament representing Tonj East County says the number of people killed in recent violence could increase.

MP Moses Madot confirmed that at least nine people had been killed as of Monday morning, though the total could be higher.

He explained that some victims may still be lying in the tall grass following the clashes, making it difficult to determine the exact number of casualties.

Communication challenges in the area have also slowed the flow of information.
